Booking & Scheduling

When should I book a Calgary newborn session?

The best time to book your newborn session is during your second trimester (weeks 14–28). This guarantees you a spot on my calendar around your due date. I only take a limited number of newborns per month to ensure flexibility when your baby arrives early or late. That said, if you already have your baby, reach out—I always try to fit in last-minute sessions when possible. here's my Booking Page.

When should I book a Calgary Maternity session?

Between 28 and 34 weeks is the sweet spot. Your bump is beautifully round, but you're still comfortable enough to move and pose. Earlier is fine if you're showing, and later is possible—just know you may be more tired.

How far in advance do I need to book a Calgary family session?

For regular family or mini sessions, 4–6 weeks in advance is ideal. For Mother's Day, Christmas, or other seasonal minis, I recommend booking as soon as they're announced—those slots fill up quickly.

What's the difference between a full Calgary Family session and a Motherhood mini family session?

  • Full session (45-90 minutes): More time for multiple setups, outfit changes, sibling shots, and extended family groupings. Best for families who want a relaxed, unhurried experience.

  • Mini session (20–30 minutes): A quick, affordable option for families with young children or anyone wanting a few updated portraits. Seasonal minis (Mother's Day, Christmas) are always mini sessions.

Can I book a photography session as a gift for someone else?

  • Absolutely. I offer photography gift certificates that are valid for 12 months and can be redeemed for any session type. They make a beautiful gift for expecting parents or growing families.

Do I get the digital files? Can I print them myself?

Calgary Photograhy Session Preparation

What should we wear for our Calgary photography session?

I recommend neutral, timeless tones and soft, flowy fabrics. Think creams, taupes, olive greens, and dusty blues. Avoid large logos, busy patterns, and neon colours. No sport socks or shoes!

My client closet is available for mamas, babies, and children—you can borrow outfits at no extra charge. I also send a detailed "What to Wear" guide after booking.

Do you have a studio or do you shoot outdoors?

I have both options available:

  • NW Calgary studio: A calm, natural-light space with props, backdrops, and climate control. Perfect for newborns, maternity, and cake smash sessions.

  • Outdoor locations: I shoot in beautiful Bearspaw, Calgary NW, or SW location is Fish Creek Park, during golden hour. Great for family sessions and maternity.

What happens if my baby is fussy during a newborn session?

That's completely normal. Newborn sessions are baby-led—I stop for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles whenever needed. I never force poses or rush a baby. I build extra time into every newborn session so there's no pressure. Trust the process: even fussy babies give beautiful sleepy shots once they're comfortable.

Can my older children come to the newborn session?

Yes, and I encourage it! Sibling shots are some of my favourite images. I recommend bringing them toward the beginning of the session (after family) so they don't get bored/tired/hungry. I'll guide you through simple, safe poses with your newborn!

Newborn Safety (Important)

Are you trained in newborn safety?

Yes. I've been photographing newborns since 2014 and have completed formal newborn posing and safety training. I never force babies into positions, all props are securely weighted, and every session is fully baby-led with breaks for feeding and soothing. Your baby's safety is always my top priority.

What safety precautions do you take in the studio?

  • My studio is kept at a warm, comfortable temperature for babies

  • All wraps, blankets, and props are washed between sessions

  • I sanitize hands before every pose and between sibling interactions

  • Composite images (where a baby's head is supported by a parent's hand that is edited out) are fully explained and consented to

  • I never leave a baby unattended on any prop or surface

After Your Session

When will I see my photos?

  • You'll receive a sneak peek image within 1 week of your session. Your full, edited online gallery will be delivered within 3 weeks (newborns, family, maternity, cake smash) or 1-2 weeks (seasonal minis) ready for download or prints. Learn more on the Post-Process Page.

Prints, Albums & Keepsakes

How do I order prints or albums?

  • Yes! You can order high-quality prints and albums through White House Custom Colour (WHCC) with a sample price guide, or use PosterJack, which I recommend if you prefer to order independently. See Prints & Wall Art Page for examples and pricing.

Rescheduling, Cancellation & Policies

  • Life happens. If you need to reschedule:

  • 72+ hours notice: No fee. We'll find a new date.

  • Less than 72 hours: A $75 rescheduling fee applies.

  • Illness or emergency: Just let me know as soon as possible. I'll waive the fee for genuine emergencies.

  • Sessions can be rescheduled up to 1 year from the original date. Full details are on the Studio Policies Page.

Special / Seasonal Sessions

  • Yes! I offer Xmas, seasonal, and special themed sessions. Booking early is recommended as spots fill quickly. Check the Holiday Sessions Page for more info.

Other Services

Do you offer cake smash photography sessions?

  • Yes! Cake smash sessions are held in my studio and last about 45 minutes. I provide the cake (or you can bring your own), the setup, and lots of bubbles for cleanup. These are perfect for first birthdays.

Do you photograph weddings?

  • I do offer wedding photography on a limited basis, but my primary focus is newborns, maternity, and families. Please see my wedding page for availability and pricing.
