Oh hello!

I'm Danielle

I'm a Canadian photographer, mother to one, and story teller that reaches for the stars in every endeavour. Music is my first love, I cry to basically every movie, I am an unapologetic Netflix/Crave-binger, and a proud fur mom to four: two bunnies, Maverick & Goose and two kittens, Jet & Whistler.

How I Fell in Love

I wasn't always a photographer. And, I also didn't grow up wanting to be a mom.(seriously?...)

But sometimes I believe the things we never thought we could do, are so natural, choose us.

Motherhood and photography chose me. It was only when I brought my son for his newborn session that I fully discovered, and fell in love with, newborn art. And never turned back.

My Motherhood

I'm serious when I say, motherhood scared me. But then my son was born. I changed instantly. Shed my old skin. Reborn with a new purpose. This evolution shuck me to the core.

You see, I never grew up wanting children. In fact the notion of rearing a child terrified me. I grew up in a middle class white family. I wanted more. So, at 19 I moved from Montreal, PQ to Whistler, BC. I lived a fun life.

Fast foward many years later, I met my husband on a camping trip in the Okanagan, BC. And, in 2014, we welcomed our son, Roen, into our lives.

My husband, who actually hates being photographed!, saw my passion for documenting our son's life, and bought my first professional full frame Cannon camera. I never went back to my design job, I started Capture Love instead.

My Creativity

Ever since I was a little girl, art has been a big part of my life. Maybe because my mom was an art teacher in elementary school:)? I was obsessed with fashion, dressing my barbies up, the perfect outfits, fashion shows...

Was I born to express myself creatively?

Partnership

Fortunate to be in a partnership with someone who believed in my vision.

With a degree in design, and a newborn in my arms, I learned alot through trial and error, and a little from the school of hard knocks.

At the time my husband worked a lot, so I stayed home. I feel so fortunate that I got that time. Slowly, I was able to attend mentoring newborn sessions and started inviting clients to my home.

It's when I got the time to learn everything on my now. And, I've bulldozed to where I am now.

There is no better high

Being a mom. Meeting the real me. The lengths I would go for my son.

The look of adoration on my son's face, after story time, and saying goodnight. My life has never felt so full.
